English Swept Frame

A late 20th century vintage reproduction English swept frame, with gilt finish. This frame was handmade in England, probably around the 70's. Good condition for its age, with some tiny areas of missing ornament, cracking of the compo ornament, and some small nail holes from an old title plaque.

Louis XIV Montparnasse Style Frame

A late 20th Century French Louis XIV corner and centre style frame, with a paint and gilt finish. Good condition with some minor areas of damage, just light wear from handling and moving, a few chips to the finish. Two corners are opening a little at the mitres. Made around the 1960's, the style is often called a Montparnasse frame.

Neoclassical Gilded Frame

A late 19th or early 20th century gilded Neoclassical frame with composition ornament, probably English. The condition is good with original gilded finish, some overpaint on the sides. It has been cut down at some point, the outer leaf ornament originally radiated out from a central clasp, this was not taken into account when it was cut down, resulting in the ornament matching OK on two sides, but not on the other two.

An early 20th Century French Louis XVI style water gilded frame. Average condition, each corner has some minor gesso loss, also some overpainting on the outer flat edge and sides. No losses to the three runs of composition ornament. Would be good once minor repair work is done, or cut down, to frame an antique pastel, print, or watercolour.

Victorian Composition Frame

A 19th Century English gilded composition frame. A good example of Victorian frame with gilded  finish, nice balanced ornament - not excessive use of different patterns. The frame has a few missing pieces of compo ornament and could do with a clean all over, one corner is partially cleaned revealing the potential color of the gilding. There is one complete corner. One short side has some gesso loss to the side. The inner slip is not removable.

A classic Victorian frame with original gilt finish, the inner gilt slip has a written title which appears to be stuck on tape, so this will need to be removed or the slip taken out.
