A carved wood 17th Century English frame. Ref 555
This is a 17th Century English hand carved frame, with original gold leaf gilded finish. It has a lovely carved scrolling floral design. The finish is original and shows that the frame was made in the late 1600's, with numerous chips to the gesso, fine surface cracks, and flaking finish in places, due to the age the finish is rather fragile. The frame is carved from lime wood.
